Is this a man’s world?
- I have never truly been part of a fandom, to be honest. However, I have a dedication to music tying me into the music community. Music is my creative expression to deliver what I believe in and what I want to be followed. Music has been a part of my life since I could remember a memory. A lot of the music I make is aimed at women and young girls. I noticed that we have a dying breed of women who show their value through their talents, normalities, or just as a being versus their body and how good they are at sexual favors. I am a part of several music groups on IG and connected to other young women in the music industry locally known in Jacksonville FL. The unfortunate circumstance of what I have noticed in the music world of women here is that we have been placed against each other rather than creating a community where we do not have to worry about greedy men taking advantage of their power by dangling a broken promised dream in our faces in exchange for things we can learn to do on our own. In my journey to release creative expressions after breaking the fear of it, I started to understand why it was important to learn more about creating music in general and how to. People will not always listen to your message but if they like the catchy hook they will find themselves singing or rapping it unintentionally. Eventually, They will become affirmation and words DO have power. Fandom groups and other fan communities have the power to change the world now more than what was. I have seen small changes but more so with the people I encounter in person. It starts with a conversation then I look on IG and that person is writing a book or noticing that they didn't want to be a part of the "hot girl club" No offense to those that do, everyone has the right to engaged in what they please. , as a mother of 3 girls who are extremely talented and a young girl at heart who fell in love with music, then found out what happened to young women and grown women who love music as well when they pursue it seriously, I believe its time for a change.
